Can anyone with a baader Hyperion 3.5mm take photos for me of the 1.25 adapter piece? I recently acquired one and am not entirely sure the lens elements are screwed in appropriately.
Images below are mine

Thanks! Chris

The barrel should be wound in so that the 1.25" barrel sticks out so it can be inserted into a 1.25" focuser.

You can use the eyepiece without the 1.25" field lens, but it means it becomes a 2" eyepiece only. It will be a lower power eyepiece.

What scope will you be using it in?

I had a set of hyperions many moons ago and for what it is worth and perceive from your photo it looks about right. Keep in mind a 3.5fl isn't going to be an ep you can use very often (unless you have something with excellent optics and a super short fl eg fsq106, NP-101 etc). Consequently, be sure that your source of concern with the EP isn't actually an artifact of weather conditions and your other equipment to use it in a practical context.

Thanks - Yes I knew that the 3.5 would not get a lot of use due to the ultra high magnification on my SCT, I mainly thought it would be fun for the moon. (and also usable as a 2" 24mm eyepiece for some afocal photography)

The second lens group is somewhat dirty, and oddly seemed clearer on the moon the other night when I unscrewed them from the 1.25 barrel and reversed them! So I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same eyepiece how theirs is arranged. It seems Baader dropped it for a 5mm quite some time ago, and there are no 'exploded' views of the 3.5 I can find on the web anywhere.

I've attached another photo of how it appears at the 'top' of the negative element piece (the older pic is as it appears lookng up the 1.25 barrel)
