View Full Version here: : DPP on a netbook: screen resolution problem?

Hi all,

Are any other Canon users running DPP on a netbook? I just tried to install it, and it says the screen resolution is not sufficient to allow the install. Is there any way around this, or will it only run on a laptop? (My netbook is running at max resolution, which I think is 1024x600 from memory.)

It would be nice to be able to use it while travelling, but if it's not possible, I guess I can shoot in RAW + jpg, and just use the jpgs as thumbnails...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Stephen

There are some apps out there that will trick the screen to run at 1024x 768, and higher.

Try google: eepc screen resolution app; or similar keyword search for what you need.

Stephen,

I ran Digital Photo Professional on a 10" ASUS eeePC netbook.

The native resolution on it is 1024x600, but, there's a screen resolution button which cycles through 4 resolutions. I selected 1024x768 (scrolling screen) and it worked fine.

See if yours has similar capability, or, do as Daniel suggested above (and, now, below).

I think this was the tool I used from memory; dont have the netbook here, so can't confirm just now.

Thanks for the replies Daniel and Humayun!

My machine doesn't seem to have the screen resolution button that yours has H, so I'll look into getting that driver that Daniel mentioned.

Right click the desktop.
Properties.
Settings.
The "Screen resolution" slider should let you choose 1024x768 which should be enough to shut up the installer. When the mouse reaches the top/bottom of the screen, the screen will scroll.
