An Astrophotography Journey
Hi all,
My first half serious go at producing a video. This is a little project I have been working on for a while and have finally had a bit of time to sit down and finish. It takes you through a look at my astrophotography journey two and a half years in the making so far and even reveals a bit of a "behind the scenes" look at the images that go into my panorama shots.
Would love to know what you think. I'm still learning a lot about how to put together video.
Please watch in HD and Full Screen

Cheers

That's an amazing journey so far, Greg, and I can't wait to see what you produce in the coming years. Inspiring stuff!

Just thinking of all those hours spent to produce those images and produce that video is mind blowing.
It is a great portfolio of celestial events coupled with some great nightscapes and objects.
Looking forward to the future images to come

Really nice work Greg. I love the lightning shots. looks out of this world.
Have you thought of adding quick transitions between images to make it smoother? just a suggestion. Cheers.

Great compilation Greg, my favourite piece is the growing star trails - excellent.

Thank you very much Mike, Laurie, Steve, Paula, Jeanette, Alistairsam and Mike Very glad you all like it. I had a few other things planned for it, like incorporating some of my solar work (including Venus transiting the Sun in sequence) and more of the "behind the scenes" panorama sequences, but decided to keep it fairly short and simple.
I'm still learning the new bit of video producing software that I used for this Alistairsam so it's probably not as smooth in the transitions as it should be. I did have a few fading transitions in there.

Beautiful, and an amazing skills increase in such a short time!
I really liked the moon eclipse shots coming across the screen almost in time with the musical cues.
Suggestions for the video, when coming out of the fast-snapshots to a video sequence, have a transition of a few frames at lease, a cross fade or cross dissolve. It stops the change from the flipbook of images to the video sequence being as jarring. Same again for switching from one video sequence to another. No transition works okay for the fast-flipping images.
Look for more musical cues to sync up to events in the video. Change scenes on particular notes or changes in the music. It makes an amazing difference synching the music a little more deeply to the images.
I really enjoyed watching it, it inspired me to get some time lapse and star trails done, they really are beautiful images. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Thank you very much Mark, Hugh and Peter And thank you Peter also for the great feedback and suggestions for improvement. All very much appreciated. My next video project will hopefully just feature timelapse images so I will concentrate on having smoother transitions and synchronised music cues.
Cheers
