Celestron 2" UHC LPR filter

I am interested in purchasing this Celestron 2'' UHC LPR filter. Has anyone got a UHC in this brand? Probably takes a back step to the Baader and Astronomik brands but this is in my price range.

I have done quite a few reviews on UHC filters vs OIII filters and it seems that UHC filters come out slightly on top for improving contrast in Nebs.

I am yet to try one so have no empirical evidence to support this...

I would use it purely for observation not AP in an 8" Newt.

I don't have one, but going by Celestron's spectrum graph http://www.celestron.com/c3/images/f...lpr_filter.gif it's fairly wide, much like the Lumicon Deep Sky. It's kind of between the Astronomic CLS and UHC-E in bandwidth but shifted slightly in the spectrum.

It seems kind of wide to call it a UHC filter.

Edit, looks similar to the Baader UHC-S.

Hi John,
Any luck on the filter front? I'm looking for a LPR filter too courtesy of the nearby railway station and new lights just gone up I gather Baader and Celestron are the same thing. Lumicon are better from one of Profilers threads.... still trawling through the filter maze to see what would be good.

Matthew, if it's for visual use, this is a good comparison test. http://www.prairieastronomyclub.org/...ommon-nebulae/

Hi Matt, the Celestron filter arrived from the States on Tuesday but I still haven't had the opportunity to test it due to cloud cover. It looks exactly the same as the Baader filter and cost $80 delivered. The Baader filters cost $150+ (incl. postge), forum members on other sites have compared the two and most (except probably those who have forked out $150+ on the Baader) agree that is is the same filter. I will let you know what I think when I get the opportunity.
Regards, John.
