Tortoise Release.

What do you do when the week is continually overcast and the nights are shocking?

Go and release 20 of these little blighters back into the wild, thats what. A combined effort between the Perth Zoo and the Department of Environment and Conservation which is producing very positive results.

The Western Swamp Tortiose was getting quite low in population but the zoo has a very succesful breeding program and with good management they are doing well at the release sites. This site is about 1 hr north of Perth.

It was great to participate in this day as a member of the Friends of the Western Swamp Tortiose group.

Oh, and I hope that Mike notices the beanie, always flying the flag when I get the chance.

What a wonderful and worthwhile way to spend a Sunday, helping out the environment and the species as well.

Fine work indeed.
