Asteroid and Mars

I heard the tail end of a radio interview the other day talking about an upcoming incident whereby either a comet or a large chunk of rock is supposed to be going to impact with Mars. Has anyone heard about this, I thought I would try this site as from previous reads I have gained plenty of info, and thought that as a relatively first time poster someone will be able to assist

Cheers
Neil

Neil, according to the JPL website, the odds of an impact are about 2.5%
and the distance of closest approach is 430.000 kms

Here's the main JPL page http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/index.cfm

Here's the direct page in question: http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.cfm?release=2007-152

It is now expected to miss Mars completely.
