M31
The Andromeda Galaxy. The image consists of Ha-25 @ 300 secs. RGB L all at 120 secs, R-65, G-60, Blue-65, L-20. This was my first attempt at an RGB-Ha composite, giving a total integration time of ~8.4hrs. SW ED80 - ZWO 1600mm mono - ZWO filters. Don't be too harsh, I've only been at this for a few months, having said that I do welcome any advice.

Gorgeous image- lovely colour and detail. We don’t see many Andromedas on IIS cause it suits the northern locations- and you’ve really presented it well. Great job!

I eny your location for this one Chris. Beautiful shot, I plan to have another go at this soon but at 10° above the horizon, conditions will have to be almost perfect to come anywhere close to yours. Great to see someone taking advantage of it being higher in the sky from up north. Surprised more Northeners don't give it a go, it's such a majestic galaxy. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Michael, from memory M31 gets to about 35 degrees at best from my location at home, it follows a tree line from 20d through the north line and down the other side. Couldn't have worked out better if I chain sawed the suckers myself.

This is a great shot! Mate you haven't wasted any time in the few months you've been at it 🙂
I've lived in the northern hemisphere most of my life and seen a lot of people try shooting Andromeda but this is one of the best ones!

A Beautiful image, Chris. I can’t add anything to the comments made already except to say that M31 sits high on my ‘to do’ list. Trouble is, I’m too far south in practical terms. Thanks for sharing. Alex

Thankyou Michael for your kind words. 10° above your horizon sounds like a pretty tuff capture. If you want to have a go at my data, give me a shout, I'd be happy to share. If it wasn't for so many people in the AP community sharing their knowledge, I'd be shooting with a box brownie.

Thanks Alex, much appreciated. As above, if you would like to try my data on M31, give me a shout, I'd be happy to share. I know some may see that as maybe not on, but it's how I got to learn and improve processing last year in our wet season when I couldn't even set up. Anyways, the offers there.
