Now that's civilised, who said you have to go without your creature comforts when it comes to astronomy. Love the red table cloth, won't affect your night vision but you may have to stick to red wine for the same reason

Brilliant and simple, well done.

You got it rmcpb, and you can only risk it with a tube scope, i wouldnt suggest catering for your little party if the rack is attached to a truss dob type scope, peanuts on the primary anyone ? lol.

For a look at how the trolley/viewing chair should look, visit this nice presentation from davewaldo;

Now that is some interesting and clever engineering huckabuck, thanks for the link, a pic of your more customised version would be great to see.

That unit looks very smart too, but i might be worried about some flex and wobble in the unit pictured ?- not sure.

nope, no wobble at all. the only slight problem is that after swinging the arm many times(severals hours) you have to slide it back up abit. i think a series of holes and a bolt (or dowel) will do the trick.
someone wanted my digital camera more than i did so as soon as i replace it i'll send along some pics. also i made an eq mount from wood for widefield photos. it works really well.
