M8 & M20 Region - 4 Panel Mosaic (Hubble Palette)

Good evening

have now completed this mosaic of the subject region which spans about 5.5 x 4 degrees. Approx 18 hours of exposure AP RH305/SBIG STXL16200.

The image link below is to a mere 35% sized version so as usual I have provided a link on the page to a much larger version.

https://www.martinpughastrophotograp...bulae#/pagem8/

check it out if you have time.

cheers
Martin

Best image I have EVER seen - the minutiae alone are breath-taking (like the tendrils and wisps).

No superlatives really express how good that image is. Speechless.

It is genuinely inspirational.
Would love to be a fly on the wall when you processed this.
Makes me want to try harder with my processing technique.
Congratulations
Jeremy

and thank you very much everyone.

BTW - When I image with the CDK, I always do 30 minute subs when NB imaging. I clear forgot this when calculating the integration time for this image. Subs here were 15 minutes long, with a total integration time of 13 hours 45 minutes (Ha 3 hours, SII 5 hours, OIII 5 hours 45 minutes).

thanks again and clear, calm, skies!
cheers
Martin

Great detail and processing, Martin. I'm not a huge fan of M8/M20 in NB but you might have converted me

Exceptional Martin!
From a framing point of view I'd say that personally it either needed more of M20 showing or cut out as it looks almost cut through but this is with my photographic judges hat on

Otherwise the depth and dynamic range is fantastic! Love it!

Beautiful work Martin.

Would have been good to sneak in a bit more M20, but you wouldn't have got the "foot" of M8 then I guess.

Thanks again folks.

Totally agree about the framing, but I really didnt want to add another 2 panels to get that bit of M20 in. I guess the mosaic could have been better planned at the outset!

cheers

A beautiful and seamless mosaic and a subtle blend of the SHO palette. Agree absolutely that the larger version needs to be looked at, the full image must be spectacular.
What software did you use to blend the different mosaic panels?
cheers,
Andrew.

Thank you Andrew.

I used a combination of Pixinsight for registration using 'Mosaic/Separate' mode, but stitched the mosaic together using Maxim DL.

Cheers

A terrific result Martin. I really like your colour palette you use for narrowband. There are lots of choices but I think you have settled on the best.

Remarkably seamless as well. I'll have to try PixInsight for that (bit by bit I use PI more).

Greg.
