Sit perfectly still for 15 seconds

Little self-portrait I took around midnight last night.

Just a cheap camera and kit lens. The galactic core is behind the camera so not much of interest in shot; would be washed out by moonlight anyway. Might try it again with better camera & lens when the Milky Way swings around in a few months.

Nikon D3300
ISO 800, 15 seconds
18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 18mm

What a lovely composition you made, Chris. The expression on your face shows a bit of anxiety though... - "run into place, pick up the scope, damned thing is heavy with the camera - opps, nearly dropped the camera heavy end..., look nonchalant, damned Moon - hope it doesn't wash out everything, ..."

Did I miss anything?

Lovely, lovely image though,

Alex.

Ha!!

I was going for a contemplative wow-the-sky-is-amazing look but I look as if I'm worried something's going to fall on me. It was midnight and I'd had a few beers...

Might break out the better camera & lens and try it again on a darker night. Perhaps with more of a half-smile into the camera, a "hey baby whassup, do you like my 8" rig" look...

Brilliant. A guy and his scope, under the full Moon together.
I hope you bought her flowers.

A wonderfully evocative scene Chris! Nicely done! Moonlight can produce beautiful landscape scenes.

Pfffffff - after all the cash I've thrown at this hobby in the past year IT should be buying ME flowers. And dinner and expensive Scotch.
