NGC2359 again -stacked in DSS

Hi,

After my previous bad effort, I did another 2 hour run at Thors Helmet, this time I stacked and stretched it in DSS. But I couldn't get the colours looking the same is the Astroart5 version.

However despite the purple tinge I like it.

It's looking very sharp, particularly around the bubble, well done!

I'm looking forward to having a crack at this one too once the clouds finally disappear

yep that is much better Bill!
The green and blue channels are clipped, if you are bit more careful on the levels processing after the stack it will help with the colour a lot.

nice work

Nice one Bill. I'm going to have a go at this one again when I get my mount up and running. Having the same scope as yours, it will be interesting to see what I can manage compared to your image.

Nice one Bill!

I might have another go at this one - I've never had much success with it.
Your image is very good - you just need software to help process it better.

Gradient exterminator (photoshop add-on) does a good job of removing this gradient and the other one you posted! I have attached an example - with more time it could be made even better.

Regards,
Tony.

Thanks guys for your kind words, image processing is definitely challenging to get the most out of the captured data.

Tony that's awesome what you did with Gradient Exterminator, I wish it was available in a stand alone version. I don't have Photoshop so I'm sort of stuck at the moment, Astroart 5 has a gradient filter but it seems to just swap the gradient from one side to the other side.

I have been doing research on gradient removal techniques, but all of the answers involve Photoshop.

Raymo, good luck when you have a go at it you will need at least 2 hours of data to make it look good.

Regards

Bill

P.S. Looks like SE East QLD is a write off again this weekend, last night clouded in at 9-30, and tonight is looking bad as well.

Hello Bill,

Try software called Fitswork - it's free. It has a gradient removal that is good sometimes. (Processing-Background Flatten-Variable Flatten).

Regards,
Tony.

Thanks Tony, I had a play with Fitswork last night and it does work a lot better than Astroart 5 for gradient removal.

Going to post the Rosette using it, there is still a little bit there but not as bad as what I had before.

Regards
Bill
