A Fit process

This image was processed totally in fits format. It is from old data. Is It better? I made it big so enjoy.
I think it shows more subtle nebulosity.
My aim still, is to make very good widefields.

Yep nothing wrong with that Bert, great image. Funny you mention fits, as I tried saving processed images from IRIS in fits instead of tiff and its much better as I have the photoshop plugin FITS Liberator, and I can apply a variety of procesing to the file in Fits Liberator before opening it in Photoshop itself. Fits though only works in monochrome? and Ive been saving my Ha monochrome images as Fits.

Intersting about fits....wouldn't the Tiff(lossless) be better then Fit..I dont have a clue I am just going on file size....tiff 44mb...Fit 22mb..you would think the smaller file would not be as good as the larger Tiff file.

Tony I have been using tiffs and thought I try doing the flat correction in fits (uncompressed). I am in the process of redoing the same data in tiffs. Will post when done.
I find everytime I go back and reprocess data it comes out 'better' as I seem to slowly learn more as time goes on. There are so many variables that it is hard to get the exact same result each time you process.
For some reason the colour comes out differently. The small pic below is the same data done in tiffs.

Looks like Berts using his 300MM flourite, his larger image sensor covers a bigger area then his other 300mm on my camera (smaller sensor 350D)

lovely, fits tiffs or nasty jpeg who cares its a beaut image! In images plus though the processing does create monochrome colour fits from the original raw file, but thats just my only observation?
