Astro Shot in Yea Vic

Hello,

Newbie here, this is my first attempt, i took this in Yea, was taken with a Tokina 11-16mm. Canon 650d. Iso3200 f2.8.

Hoping to get a break in the weather this week to go out, but being Melb I doubt it. Can anyone recommend good spots to go to in Victoria?

Thanks.

Very nice first attempt Ivica. My favorite spots for taking nightscapes in Victoria are the alps (Mt Buffalo, Falls Creek, etc.) and out west, in and around the Grampians and Little Desert. Other places I have not done, but I want too, include along the Great Ocean Rd and Wilsons Prom. Cape Shank, Phillip Island and Flinders are not too far from Melbourne with nice scenery and no light pollution to the south. Very popular if an aurora is forecast. But of course that is if you are after some nice foreground locations. If you are just interested in taking images of the night sky then basically anywhere where you can get away from light pollution is good. Here is a light pollution map for Victoria: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...se.php?a=17342 Black to grey is best.

Thanks, Im about an hr from Phillip Island, but I work night shift, 2 nights on 2 nights off. So im not really concerned as to where. I looked at a 200km radius from Melb and looked at places with lakes etc etc. i looked at places after phillip island, but looking south straight into the water? I thought u need to look North more. So I was Looking at Lake Glenmaggie. Some nature reserves anywhere as well near Nationa Parks.

Thanks for that.
