Upcoming Astro talk...

Hi all...
For those that are interested, Prof. William BUSLER, (U.S.A.), will be giving talks at various venues around Australia later this month & into August.
He will be visiting us W.A.A.C.ers on our normal monthly meeting night, (first Thursday in August), ie; the 3rd August, & the talk will be on Quasars, Blackholes etc.....
If anyone is in the area, they are most welcome to attend. Please let me know by PM tho. Will give more details etc...
We meet at a Council hall with 'fairly limited' seating facilities..
Start time is down for 7.30 PM..
Regards, Laurie.
Sec.

pompa, Sorry but I do not know his full itinerary. You might contact Brett McMillan at SASI, (Sutherland), or Nick Lomb at the Sydney Observatory, as I think he is scheduled to visit them.

Re: Astro talks

Laurie,

Prof., Busler not scheduled on coming events at Sydney Observatory.
The festival of the stars is on this weekend at the Oservatory which unfortunately I will also have to miss.

Being a new member, I would have liked to meet some IISers who may attend.
Worse!! is missing out on staying at my favourite pub- The Lord Nelson brewery at the bottom of Observatory Hill; which is always a highlight when attending a night event at the Syd-Ob.

Pompa, I found his itinerary...
He will be at the ASNSW on the 28th July.
Possibly at their's or Newcastle's "Saturday 29th, Observing Night".
You should contact either of those Societies for further info.
eMail for Newcastle > ghulhussain1_at_bigpond.com
I think that 'ghul' may be an IIS member???

ps. From their site > http://www.asnsw.com/meetings/meetings.htm

At this moment I'm giving Mr Busler a tour of the night sky.

Well not at this second but I have been and he is setting up his camera for some photos.

Happy viewing.

A good night was had by Bill I would suggest!
I started off by showing him a few of the brighter objects with a 14” LX 200.
Ngc 5139, 5128 etc. Bill was impressed. He now wanted to take some sky photo’s.
With a few more people turning up Julian dragged out the 18” Obsession that was the last I saw of Bill till I went home. I’m sure Bill had a great time and I did hear him say more then once that is very impressive. Julian did say he liked ngc 5139 in the 18” with a 31 Nagler!! I’m sure he was!!

I was busy observing through I friends old 106mm Refractor. But that’s another story.
Bill will be with the MPAS at there observing night tonight. The weather has been very kind to him so far.
Enjoy your trip Bill and nice to meet you.
