Scorpius Coles Bay

318 am on Sunday 12 January

Taken at Edge of Bay resort Coles Bay looking South east (almost due SE) towards the Hazards.

Canon 550; 10mm ; 3200 ASA; WB 4000K; 25s; Camera stabilised by sitting on bench outside.

Qn i have for you Ice experts is the background lighting aurora or pre dawn twilight ? Sunrise was 545 am so i'd not expect any twilight effects until 433 based on the 18 degree rule.

Thanks John Lindfield NSW

Hi John,
Your image was a bit too dark to really see what you were talking about, so I hope you don't mind but I stretched it a bit. Looks to me to be a combination of the brightest part of the Milky Way rising on the horizon and some atmospheric haze and maybe some mild airglow as well.
Cheers
Greg
