As I was deleting photos on the hard drive I decided to have a closer look at some of my attempts Comet Lovejoy. It turns out that I did capture it after all. Brings back some fond memories. It was Halley's comet in '86 that got my interest all those years ago.

These shots have had big shifts in brightness and contrast to get the comet into view.
Good stuff Stu, great memories there! You might be able to get a half passable image by stacking your 'variations'. I did a quick-&-dirty with your three images in Registax (jpeg compression and all) and got the attached. If you have several subs use them all to vary the noise & get a smoother image. It won't be an APOD, but hey!
Thanks Rob. Your stacked version is a much easier image to look at. I did not have the correct gear to take great photos of Lovejoy but it is nice to have at least one to prove that I was there.
I will muck around with it in RegiStax and see what I can salvage.
