Removing coating from corrector plate

Hello all! I have a meade LX200 10" classic. Coating of its corrector plate has taken a hit over the years. Most of it is damaged (primarily from the mould, that since has been cleaned up). There is a minimal impact during observing. However, I am trying to understand if removing the coating altogether is a good idea. And if so, do you have suggestions around ways that it can be achieved ?

Thanks.
