Hello, I'm from the colour Police. Although this is a good pic, I dont know why your complaining about the stars they look fine, green nebula and purple background is immoral.

set out to get Gabby but the field of view was huge.
What do you mean by "Gabby"
I'm not much into Funny coloured images of
well known objects, but all too his own.
Getting back into imaging keeps you occupied
Alex.
Cheers

Ron, I'm not a fan either, but Alex's colour perception is all over the place,
so he does the best he can. Alex was referring to the Gabriela Mistral Nebula at top left of his image.

Raymo.
No Criticism here as to the quality of his images.
What I said was of my opinion of all of these images
from everybody that posts green, red, blue, and colours
in between of deep sky objects.
Everytime I see these Trifle coloured images of Eta Carinae.
I think to myself, Will the real Eta Carinae stand up.
I am not an imager and have no wish to be, so basically
I like to see an object that I can recognise and is pleasing to the
eye.
Thanks to both you and Alex on the identity of Gabby.
Cheers

I'm absolutely with you Ron; as far as I am concerned these strangely
coloured images should be in an art thread, if there was such a thing.
I have nothing against bright colours that originate from very long
exposures, but over saturation of short exposure images just looks garish.

In my opinion, as i have said many times, make it any colour you want. Astro imaging is art. The "standard model" promoted by many folks really does not mean anything. If you were floating out there near Eta and looking at it with your eyes it is likely you would see next to nothing, thanks to the human eye spectrum capture weaknesses and lack of time exposure memory.
So Alex, interpret it any way you choose. And honestly they make much nicer prints hanging on your wall.
