NGC 253, Sculptor Galaxy

Happy I could get this in Bortle 9 Glebe with no filters. Sad it was a new moon and I couldn't be in a dark sky site. Damn this lockdown.

The police drove past and shined their light at 3am in the park and then drove on. By myself and doing R&R in a park in a non-restricted LGA is OK atm.

NGC 253, Sculptor Galaxy.

Esprit 120 on AZEQ6 with ASI2600 MC Osc, No Filters

40 by 150 seconds, bias, darks and flats

Processed in Pixinsight

There was a bit of wind so guiding wasn't great, but you take what you get when you manage to get out.

Good effort there Zuts, the guiding looks fine to me. Yeah, the lockdown is a bummer but at least we can still practice our hobby from home, even if the skies aren't completely dark. Stay safe, stay home. 😷

Thanks Michael,

Lol, I don't live in a park

Guiding was OK. With ASIAir pro and multistar guiding I can sometimes get down to 0.3 RMS, this night had peaks up to 1.2, average around 0.8, so stars still round but a bit fat.

It scratched the itch, but under dark skies it seems 1 frame is worth 4 in Glebe and of course much less noise.

Thanks Peter, given the conditions very happy. The Esprit and ASI 2600 are a good combo. It still amazes me that I can get a reasonable unfiltered galaxy shot in Glebe.

Quite a lot of detail coming through there. You must have the processing working well.
