The first star clusters, nebulae and galaxies

The first star clusters, nebulae and galaxies to be discovered are some of the brightest DSO in the sky. In the following posts are the first 20 OC, 20 GC, 20 Nebulae, 19 PN and 21 Galaxies in the order they were discovered, starting with galaxies.

The columns are
Order, Catalogue, Number, Messier, Type, Constellation, Visual magnitude, Length in arc-mins, Discoverer and Year found.

This data is from Dr Wolfgang Steinicke.

Glen, an excellent twist on the usual lengthy list. Makes for an interesting observing project that I’ll add to my list.

Thanks for posting.

Hello,

Tyvm for putting that together, very nice to have a simple list of the "best and brightest" and grouped!

Be nice to see this pinned up top imo.
