Should come up and have a look through sometime. There is just something about the image it presents that is hard to describe, and stays etched in your memory - it's a scope you truly feel immersed in the view with.
The BEST Saturn and Jupiter viewing I have ever done was with this scope.
It's a howitzer of a scope, but really quite light.
Nice little Mak, may I suggest that you wrap it in reflective type insulation foam, helps a lot with calming the tube currents of Maks...
Even those reflective car sunshades wrapped around the tube and extending past the front for dew control...
Good idea. It has been suffering a bit from tube currents despite being a small scope and having passive air vents around the corrector. Mind you, that hasn't stopped it showing Mars, Saturn and the Moon rather nicely.

Nick ur right u need armour that is one nice looking scope. I would love a Russian mak. Last year I came very close to getting an Aries 10" but then the fact I was between jobs back then also drew me back from that lovely dream.
Well, the Star 12ED was traded away for this lovely Tak FS-102NSV.
And yes it is Les's wooden case - I bought it from Matt just for this Matt brought the FS back in the same trip.
Nice case Lewis though I didn't like the screws through the plywood not lining up perfectly.... Maybe you can contact the guy who built it and see if he can make one for a binoscope
