2021pfs supernova in NGC5427

There is a super long story behind this one. But the short one is I drove up to a farm about 20k from a town called Cohuna in Victoria where its really dark, and last night was really, really cold, to take a photo of 2021pfs which I can't see from my backyard in Melbourne.

Everything that could go wrong did. I thought dew was a problem, until I got ice forming on the mount, and everything else around me. In the end I finally got setup by a bit past midnnight, with about 30 mins left before NGC5427 was going to drop too low. On top of that I was wearing fluro ski gear in the middle of a paddock miles from anywhere (part of the long story).

8 hours of driving there and back, hours or things going wrong in the cold and dark to get set up, 6 300 sec subs, and only one usable due to fog rolling in. Totally worth it though, I got to photograph a star exploding.

Attached is the image I got of 2021pfs in NGC5427, processed as best I could in pix insight from a single 300 sec sub.

Sort of done the same thing at some stage.

Sorry, should have included more details. It was the Vixen 200mm, QHY10, CGEM mount, etc. But at the end of it all the data I collected was that bad you'd just delete it normally if it wasn't for the reason I tried to get it..

Here's pic of what I meant by ice, I had to leave the mount out in the middle of a paddock because it's too heavy to lug back inside across uneven ground in the dark. This was about 7am this morning, it was like that while imaging.

Great work!!!!...what an adventure also, quite amazing how it stands out.
I noticed that the star is not dimming at all and probably getting brighter.
I photographed it 2 weeks ago with a 127mm refractor

Thanks, I saw yours and was inspired to have a go. Wasn't sure at mag 14 I'd be able to see a thing, at least not in a suburban location but given I managed a single sub and could still see it (albeit at a very dark location) I'd say it might be possible from a city at the moment if you could get more time on it.

I can't see it from my yard unfortunately, trees in the way but if you could a good 2 hours might be possible before it sinks too low. According to stellarium between about 8 and 10pm looks about the right time in Melbourne.

I can actually see it from my front yard, but from that spot its about the only thing I can see, so polar alignment might be challenging, if the sky clears I may have a go anyway.
