Hi all
It's with great pleasure that I announce and welcome David Hough (h0ughy) as a new moderator on IceInSpace.
Our list of moderators has been stable for a long time, and with an excellent community that's capable of self-moderation there hasn't been a need to increase our gaggle of moderators until now.
With some recent changes in personal lives, a few moderators simply won't have as much time to spend online anymore.
Janoskiss (Steve) simply didn't have the time to commit anymore and asked to be removed as a moderator about 2 months ago, which I regrettably agreed to do. I'd like to thank Steve for his contributions, help and friendship over the past couple of years.
xstream (John) and his wife Anna will now be on the road in their campervan, travelling from star party to star party and across our wide brown land. John will still remain a moderator but won't be able to get online as much as he used to (lucky his campervan has satellite!
).
RB (Andrew), acropolite (Phil) and [1ponders] (Paul) will now be joined by h0ughy (Dave).
Dave has been a long-time member of IceInSpace, and during his time on IceInSpace he's become a great friend. Dave is widely known on IceInSpace, and legend has it that his face is recognised throughout the universe, simply through his avatar here on IceInSpace
Dave has made a great many contributions over the years, and he has been on the organising committee of all 3 IISAC's where his help and support have been invaluable.
I think Dave has at one time or another owned every piece of astronomical equipment ever available on the shelves, and his knowledge, friendliness and helpfulness, combined with his loyalty and friendship to IceInSpace, are just what we look for in a moderator and I'd like to thank him, and welcome him to his new role on IceInSpace.
Being a moderator is a mostly thankless task, and can at times be worrying and stressful, so please give Dave some time to ease in gently as he learns the ropes. With the continued self-moderation and friendly attitudes shown by the IceInSpace community i'm sure he'll have no trouble at all getting up to speed.
Thanks Dave, and
