Took this on my last night in Broken Hill. Not a dark sky location as I was staying in an AirBnb in town so maybe Bortle 4. Certainly better than my usual Bortle 9 in Glebe.

12 by 300 sec, darks flats and bias frames.
Esprit 120, ZWO 2600 MC

Guiding was very good on the night.

I have included a crop as it's a small target for that image scale and sensor. The larger image has less processing applied, just noise reduction and a stretch (no curves or saturation boost).

Cheers
Paul

That’s a great photo Paul. I am amazed at what the 2600mc can do in just one hour.

Stéphane

Yes, nice job, but it is not amazing what a 2600mc can capture in an hour.
10yrs ago this was captured in 4 mins. 8x 30 secs 8" newt, Canon 1100D, ISO 1600, JPEG, unguided, noise reduction enabled, all done in Deep Sky Stacker.
The aperture of the scope is nearly as important as the sensitivity of the camera.

Yes, I am very happy with the camera, with Bortle 4, and low in the sky the data is not too bad.

Thanks Kuz.

This was my last night in Broken Hill and it was in the 90 minutes before dawn, otherwise I would have taken more subs.

Hi Raymo.

That's true, but I feel equally important is a nice dark sky as I never use narrowband. Comparing my 5 minute subs taken here in Broken Hill suburbia with 5 minute subs from a dark sky site near Ivanhoe shows a vast difference. What is the Bortle Scale value for Margaret River?

Hi Zuts, I never use filters, just straight through the camera. Bortle here was 3+ when my image was shot, but due to development is now 4+.
