solar CaK 25 Jan 2022

Using the Vixen 90/1000 with the DIY CaK filter (1A bandwidth). Some issues with the internal tilt need to be addressed.
The southern zone dominated by the large sunspot AR 2934.

The northern zone has a new AR just coming into view -complex with at least two larger spots. The mid zone shows the small group AR 2935?
Some very nice proms around!!!
Enjoy.

Jeff,
Those are CaK proms. Images from stack of 200 from 500 slightly sharpened.
Exposures were typically 40-60ms, a total of 10sec.
For comparison the previous CaK I showed from the MiniSHG took only 0.004 sec - the benefit of a very narrowband centred on the activity.

Ken you have produced an excellent set of CaK images. In particular the fine details found in your prominence images are very impressive. Well done again.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, appreciated.
We have been looking at some modifications to the SHG image processing software (INTI) to allow more accurate placement of the target wavelength.
This will allow imaging at Doppler shift and various positions in the target absorption lines (core and extended wings)

Unfortunately the extended family has been impacted with Covid and a senior member rushed to hospital. Difficult times for all.
