My Deep Space Astrophotography Journey (video)

Since the weather's been so bad here this year and we've had our share of health issues, I haven't had many opportunities to do any astrophotography. We've had over 1000mm rain where the average annual amount is around 600mm. So, I thought I'd slap together a short (14min) video showcasing the best images I've taken since I started imaging in 2007. Just for fun.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODFK-eudhWY

It's a 4K resolution Youtube video of my astronomy journey since the early 70s. Naturally it's best viewed at the highest resolution (Settings - Quality - 2160p) on a larger screen. HD (1080p) will work but won't have the same clarity & smoothness.

Hope you like it!

Marcus,
An awe inspiring presentation one of which you are no doubt very proud of. An amazing collection of very fine examples of the treasures of our universe.
Excellent.
Hope the weather eases soon...
Regards,
Anthony

I have to agree with you there! I was the technical consultant - but Gail is the real talent. Both pieces (at the beginning and end of the video) were very complex (each over 400 pieces of glass individually shaped).

Thanks very much Anthony! I'm not a prolific imager - I've no interest in "volume" imaging - but I must confess I'm pretty proud of what I've done over the years. Hopefully 2022 will allow me to add some more to the portfolio.

Hi Marcus,
that's an excellent video and of course it's all your own material
so you indeed have plenty to be proud of.
I wish you all the best in the future as you add to your collection of celestial wonders.

cheers
Allan

Thanks very much Allan!! It was fun to do and was a nice update from the one I did way back in 2012.

Thank you JA!! I'm very glad you enjoyed it and found it relaxing. I find that very satisfying. The universe is a dangerous and violent place but, for us mere mortals, it's a wonderful, exquisite, and serene thing to behold and contemplate!!

Thanks Mike. It's also about sharing the visceral experience of imaging the universe and the love of the hobby. The music helps communicate the emotion of it I guess. It's funny, imaging sessions can stress me out (things invariably go wrong), the processing is intense but enjoyable, but the final result is very soothing & calming to look at. Maybe I'm just weird .

Mark,
What a journey over 50 years in the hobby
Thoroughly enjoyed it
I’m a late starter at 56 (now 61) but will enjoy the hobby as long as I can whilst my health stays ok
Thanks

Holy cow! 50 years?! I hadn't actually thought of it like that. I feel old. I'm glad you enjoyed it Martin, thanks!
