Imaging source GigE 5 camera's ???

Hi all. I got an email from imaging source about their GigE -5 camera's namely the Imaging Source DFK 23GP031 (colour) and the DMK 23GP031 (mono). These are 5 MegaPixel camera's.

Being a 5MP camera, just wondering about the suitability of these camera's for lunar / planetary imaging, and what pro's cons could be in relation to things like processing compared to the DMK21AU that I have at the moment.

Bones.

Gain is max 12 dB = 3x lower than in your DMK = very limited imaging (I tested PGR Firefly 0.3 with 12 dB gain). Aside of that you have a MICRON CMOS sensor with very small pixels and rolling shutter (may give artifacts) which isn't the best thing for Solar System imaging.

At the moment Sony ICX618 wins for planetary, ICX445 for lunar/solar. ICX674/694 in insane high-end Solar System imaging. CMOS sensors are lurking somewhere around like e2v or CMOSIS. But that's still something to come.
