Cloning fron NVMe to NVMe

Hi guys, just another Computer question please, "yea I know:

Can one Clone a Crucial P2 CT1000P2SSD8 1TB M.2 Internal NVMe PCIe SSD to another Crucial P2 CT1000P2SSD8 1TB M.2 Internal NVMe PCIe SSD
rather than going from the NVMe to a standard SSD.

Just asking please.

Hi Leon,

I can't see why not - to the Operating System, a disk is a disk is a disk.

Use one of many disk cloning tools and you should be OK. (Sorry, not a Windows user, so can't really help with naming any of them.)

Back when I was a support technician we used a product called 'Ghost' (by Norton? Symantec?) that would take care of everything. No doubt that's been replaced by something else.

Cheers,
V

Thanks Steve, I have looked at a few and actually bought Acronis which proved a disaster and they actually refunded me my money when i told them how it played havoc to the Computer.
I now have Backupper, apparently one of the better ones and it does seem good and is fine loaded on the Computer, but I have not actually tried out all is features, still doing some reading.

Just a thought, Leon - does your machine (motherboard?) have enough NVMe slots to take both drives at the same time? (And that includes the agro of having to open the case to plug them both in...)

You may be forced to use some form of external dock or enclosure if it doesn't.

Yes Steve, there are two slots one has the OS and other stuff on it and the other has an empty , brand new NVMe with nothing on it as yet plus we have a 1TB SSD also hooked up which is also new and empty.

This machine is just new and I built it which much help from a IIS Member so if I need to get inside there it is not a problem.

I also have a spare 1TB SSD with a USB to SATA cable which I can plug in when I need to.

So plenty of places to go.

Thank You.

Leon

I've used Macrium Reflect Free a number of times very successfully Leon - it's definitely worth a shot mate.

Sounds like you have the hardware all under control, Leon.
