Anyone had a go at using insulated aluminium panels for the walls and roof on a roll of roof OB

I haven’t Trevor but I’m looking at a design for a micro observatory at the moment and considering options for the external cladding. Do you have a link to an example of an insulated aluminium panel that you would be looking at?

I’m about to start one Trevor. I’ve ordered the stock to be delivered next week sometime. My OBS will only be small at around 1.8M square with a low roof height of 1.2M. Basically it’s just a big Esky. Coolroom panels all round. There is a couple of posts on IIS mentioning the panels in use. Good luck with yours.

My observatory (and the school one I assist with) are made from steel cold room panels. The smaller one is self supporting, the larger school observatory has a structural steel frame with the panels attached.

Not sure about the differences for aluminium panels.

I have 50mm thick steel insulated panels from Stratco for the walls and roof, on a 100x50 bolted steel frame, anchored 600mm in concrete pads.

Dead easy to construct.

Not going anywhere in a hurry, and has weathered 80km gusts.
