The past two days have seen terrific blue skies - but after dark seeing and transparency just awful. I put both my 18" and 106mm APO out last night - stars were blobs in both. Halos around 3rd magnitude stars - where is all this vapour coming from?

John,
That’s a shame , although I could see a high cloud bank on the satellite video inland but not on the coast
I’m on the south coast just north of Ulladulla and was imaging NGC 5139 from my Dome in the back yard , guiding was excellent very stable and in the front driveway had my 12” Goto dob observing Saturn and Jupiter with clean crisp views , in fact the best views of these planets I’ve had for a couple of years ( I was using my Televue Apollo 11 eye piece just with a cheap #80 blue filter )
Time was about 10.30pm
Seeing and transparency very good
