Lots of interesting things to see on the Sun today 20 June 2022
We were out this morning and noticed a large clear patch of sky developing. By the time we got home, it had nearly passed the sun, so we scrambled to set up our new double stack scope.
We experienced some issues again setting up the tilt adapter and also had some ASI178 grid issues which we don't normally have. This meant that we only managed to capture one reasonable image before the hole closed over.
The good news was that there was so much going on. AR 3038 was flaring very brightly. Checking the GONG at Learmonth shows that it had been crackling away all day. The filament around AR 3032 is really thick and long.
The proms in the northern hemisphere are very impressive and when we were processing the image, we noticed a faint prom on the SE that was floating a long way out from the surface.
The second two images were processed to show more of the proms.
