Sydney Storm last night

Not much more to say other than see the attached pic.

Taken from our balcony (facing east, overlooking the Woronora river valley)

One of the more impressive electrical storms of the season.....this was a single 30 exposure.

Wow Peter. That's a super impressive shot mate. That's a candidate for framing. Well done! It was a nasty storm alright. I just went to dial into work (also in Sydney) and can see that everything lost power overnight and has rebooted. Luckily it's all protected and I don't have to go in tomorrow and start replacing power supplies, routers, PABXes etc. When will we ever get a decent stint of clear weather?

Ta. It was quite the show....I was a little tardy in getting the camera gear out,
as earlier on it was decidedly more spectacular!
(I was busy making sure the gear in my observatory was unplugged...)

That's fabulous Peter. Shooting a storm to capture lightning is also very much to do with lucky imaging and you certainly lucked out here! Good on you for deciding to grab the camera and have a go at getting something. Your decision has given you a record of this obviously incredible weather event.

Terrific shot Peter - certainly a lot of lightning. Well done. Which camera did you use and aperture etc? Thanks.

Great image Peter. Imagine what Nikola Tesla would want to do with that.

Best

Thanks gents....driving back from the Sydney Fish Markets last night there
was a firecracker of a storm off the south coast...sadly just a little too far away to image from my home.

Last time I saw such an active storm was over the south China sea in a 767 I was flying back from Hong Kong.
The top of the storm was throwing blue jets into space...a very awesome and rare sight ...but sadly I didn't have a camera to record it.

I can see why many "storm chasers" find these displays of nature to be so seductive.
