Hi,
I have for sale the first orange-tube C8 imported into Australia - so it's rather old, but looked after carefully by its original owner and still working perfectly. Optically excellent, the only thing that's missing are the Starbright coatings on the optics, so it's a few percent down in transmission compared to modern ones.
Available as just the OTA on a Losmandy dovetail, or if you want, also the original fork mount and a wedge for your tripod. The original mount uses 110V AC synchronous motors, so if you want this I can also include a 240V to 110V converter.
Also included is a complete set of original Celestron eyepieces - 40mm K, 25mm K, 18mm Or, 12.5mm Or, 9mm Or and 6mm Or; in a wooden storage box.
The original 1.25-inch prism diagonal.
The original 1.25-inch visual back, plus a 2-inch back for your modern diagonal.
A full-aperture solar filter.
The original orange finder. Currently installed is a home-made right-angle finder.
A RoboFocus motor for focusing (but no controller); the original focus knob if you want to revert to original equipment. With the belt drive disconnected, the focuser is very smooth with little mirror shift.
Plus the original packing case (although this has suffered over the years and not looking so great).
Hard to know how to price this. I'll start by asking for offers around $500. PMs please.
Hi Steve,
I am interested in the C8 Orange tube in original form, mainly for display as an early aspirational piece of gear from my early days or astronomy interest, but in working condition for occasional visual use. Keen to have a chat.
