it sounds like it is binding or slipping on the cogwheels inside the mount, you need to check the wormgear adjustment.
i have done a hypertune on mine, and it had binding when i was adjusting the wormgears, and it sounds like you describe.
it has nothing to do with the other parts, it is a adjustment thing, im sure.
so dont use time on the other things now, check out astrobabes webpage, and do the adjustment after here write-up, and your problems will dissapear, i promise.

Is your power supply voltage correct?
If it is too low, then because of slightly different load (due to imbalance, which has to be there anyway - tracking should always work against the load) motors may stall, and the resulting sound is exactly as you described it.
