Tamron SP AF70-200mm F/2.8

Is anyone familiar with this lens for astro work? Im wondering if it might be a viable alternative to the Canon L 70-200 f/2.8. It's less than half the price. The reviews say the optics are excellent but the autofocus is slow and occasionally unreliable, which isn't really an issue for astro work.

I haven't used the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 but it certainly looks pretty good considering the price!

I bought one recently but have not used it for astro shots yet, so you'll have to wait if you want more info from me
