connecting canon dslr to dob

I have a 10" dob that I want to use for lunar photography using my Canon eos 350d.
What do I need to buy to connect the camera to the dob?
Also I want to very shortly buy a 10" or 12" SCT to start on deep space photography. Could I use the same mounts to attach the camera to both the dob and the SCT?
Would there be focusing problems with the Canon on the dob and if so how would they be overcome?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Frank

Yes - there will be focusing problem with your dob. You won't be able to get enough in-focus, unless you've got a really low profile focuser.

The only way to overcome it is to move the mirror up the tube.

Apart from that, you'll need a T-Adapter and a 2" nose piece tube. The T-adapter screws into the camera like a lens, and 2" nose piece screws into the T-Adapter and gives you the barrel that you put in the focuser.

You should be able to use this on an SCT no problems.

Mike,

Thanks for the advice.

Would it be easier to find focus in the dob with a webcam?

Regards

Mike,
I have also just found the astrophotography with a dob article.
Should have made more of an effort to search. I will read it tonight and thanks again.
