Cool Total Lunar Eclipse 4-5th April 2015

Thought I'd chip in with my take on the eclipse
In Auckland we had some thin clouds during the early stages, but they cleared later and totality was a sight to behold!

Here is my final processed image, taken at maximum eclipse. The Lunar north pole area was still significantly brighter than the rest, just barely entering the full shadow of the Earth. As a result, a spectacular range of blue and red hues were present across the entire Earth-facing hemisphere. I think this made it one of the prettiest Lunar eclipses I have witnessed.
Despite being located in the Southern hemisphere I decided to orient the image with North at the top as I found this view to give a more natural and aesthetically pleasing look.

Image details:
Date: 4-5th April 2015
Exposure: RGB: 8x0.2:7x0.2:7x0.2s, total 4.4s @ -27C
Telescope: Homebuilt 12.5" f/4 Homebuilt Serrurier Truss Newtonian
Camera: QSI 683wsg with Lodestar guider
Filters: Astrodon LRGB E-Series Gen 2
Taken from my observatory in Auckland, New Zealand

Hope you enjoy the view.

Regards,
Rolf

Thanks Russ, yeah I was pretty happy with how the brighther area came out. Had to fiddle with exposure to get it optimal.

Thank you Rick, I was surprised by how colourful this eclipse was, with all the blues in there too.

Thanks very much Rod, I did stay up way too late the other night as I got carried away with processing, but obviously it was worth it

A beautiful image, Rolf, dark and moody with lots of atmosphere. Well deserving of the APOD.
