MaxDSLR / DSLRFocus Help

Have myself a copy of MaxDSLR to use as my focuser when taking photo's via Prime Focus method but now that I have it, the software won't talk to my Nikon D40.

The software is on my laptop which is connected to my Nikon via the USB cable but the software can't detect the camera.

Any ideas as I assume anyone who is using DSLRFocus will also be able to help?

Cheers

Have you loaded the drivers for your D40 that came with the camera?

Laptop detects the D40 no probs, it's the software not talking to the camera ..

I know with the Canon you still need to load the drivers/software that came with the camera, so try loading the s'ware that came with the D40 and reboot.

See how you go then.

Got it working now, setting on the D40 that was the issue.
Is anyone here familiar with the MaxDSLR program as I have a question about focusing .. ?

Now that i have the software and my D40 connected successfully, where-abouts within MaxDSLR do I go to focus on what my telescope
is pointing at?

I am using manual focus but is there somewhere within MaxDSLR I can see what my telescope see's so I can get those stars as pin-points as possible?

Hope that makes sense!

Not entirely sure what you are asking but try this.
Align the scope on a bright star, I use the camera finder, and get the eyeball focus as good as you can.
Shoot an exposure, perhaps 1 second using the "Focus" tab. On this tab you will find "Inspect". Take a look at the readings, and also the star image on the screen. You will find it better to draw a smaller box around the star as this will help the download speed significantly. Focus FINELY in and out watching the image, and the readings. Try the help file for the meanings of these readings, but you want as high a pixel reading as possible. Of course seeing will make this fluctuate, but try it and come back to us.
