Editing Posts

Why is it when trying to edit a post under Deep Sky I end up with two posts the same, it just doesn't seem to let me edit the original post then save it

Trev,
Log in
Select and open your original post
Press Edit at the bottom
Edit your post in the Edit window
Once completed press “Save” button
Log out
Log back in
Your edited post should be in the same place as original
Cheers
Martin
PS: I don’t touch the reason for edit section etc…

Tried that although I did not log out then log back in, I thought it would be simple but for some reason it doesn't do that, it goes to a completely blank screen, then says message to short, I have to re-enter my original post then when I save I end up with two posts the same

Hmm…?
Strange
I’ve just corrected only punctuation / gramma as an edit on a post and it works fine
Hopefully one of the Mods jump in and help you directly !!!

I just tried an edit now and added only 2 exclamation marks to my reply post
which only had one exclamation mark.
It worked fine.

Yes editing works OK when you are just editing a simple message but not under the imaging section when I wanted to remove and re-eeter an updated image

Not sure if you can update an image on the same post ????
I’ve always posted an updated image in a new post
Hopefully a Mod or others who know can confirm that

Trevor you may be doing the same thing I've accidentally done a couple of times. When you select edit post it gives you the option to reply directly below. If you click on submit for the empty reply box it will give that warning, you need to click on the save button higher up, directly attached to the edit post field.

I'll try and take a screen shot of what I'm talking about after I grab my coffee.

Sorry, not having much luck with windows key and s on Win 7 because of the format and layout of this forum software."Powered by vBulletin Version 3.8.7 | Copyright ©2000 - 2025, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. "
I can only get the submit new post (reply) showing where it catches me out if I'm editing my own thread not a single reply like this one but just have a look at what you're trying to edit and you may catch what I'm talking about.
I do it all of the time when I edit my threads, clicking on "submit reply" instead of "save" higher up where you have actually edited and get the "too short" (I've been told that before too many times, not quite 6', LOL).
I know how frustrating it is, my son who has better eyes actually pointed out my error to me. What sucks is I'm very familiar with VBulletin forum software, I used to be admin on a huge forum (3,000,000 plus registered members) running the same software some years back.
