Barnard 3 Wide Field

This new shot depicts a very particular area. In the central part of the frame we may notice in the foreground the dark nebula Barnard 3, which spans a large part of the field together with the dark nebulae LDN 1468 and LDN 1470. The presence of a region of ionized hydrogen makes us immediately realize how the latter is somehow "on the other side" of B3, as the latter manages to attenuate, in its densest regions, the H-alpha radiation coming from LBN 749.

In the lower left area of the photo we can see the reflection nebula IC348 and the nebulae LBN 758 and LBN 601. These nebulae owe their blue light to the radiation emitted by the star Omi Per (Atik).

Despite the density of dust present in the area, it is possible to identify some distant galaxies, belonging to the PGC catalog; the most notable is PGC 1921731, with an apparent size of 1 arcminute.

The technical details of shooting and the higher resolution version can be found at the link: http://www.skymonsters.net
