Guide camera - ASI 290MM (USB 3.0) vs 290MM-Mini (USB 2.0) & ASIAir (Pro)

Hi guys,

For use as a guider at this stage in conjunction with an ASIAir Pro, would I get any benefit from the more expensive non-mini version in terms of the USB 3.0 transfer speed?

Thinking about the Polar Alignment & Guiding functions of the ASIAir Pro and the camera being able to reflect a somewhat 'realtime' view of the focus adjustments Im making, will it slow me down if i just go USB 2.0, or are the image loops effectively 'real-time' anyway given its only a 2.1MP camera.

Thanks!

As a guide camera I would not worry much about USB2 connection limitations. I have a 290MM Mini and it works just fine as a guider. To be honest I have never noticed the download time, I would have to guess it as about one second or so.

I got a normal asi290 but for guiding it goes through my imaging camera so ends up being usb2. It's fine for that
