Access Issues to site from PC
Hi folks;
Just over the last two to three weeks, I've experienced an issue accessing the IIS site from my desktop at home. Whenever I try, I get a "the site timed out" message. Previously, I've never had a problem.
However, using a laptop, there's no issue at all. Accessing from work has no problem either. So it's obviously just the PC at home.
I'm running Windows 10 through the latest version of Firefox. I haven't added any new hardware or programs. I have cleared the cache, and checked things like firewalls and virus settings.
Any ideas?

Hi, try Google Chrome from the same PC and see what happens. If it works fine, search for issues with firefox on google. If it does not work, might be something else with that PC. Good luck.

Cheers mate, I'll give that a go.
Actually, now I think of it, the automatic update of Firefox is about the only thing that might have made a difference, but the laptop runs Firefox as well. Still, it's worth a go.

...and nope, Chrome didn't solve the problem.
Any other suggestions?

Try clearing the cache on your modem...
Google how to clear cache on whatever modem you use to connect to the internet at home.
I've had it happen on mine a few times albeit, not on this site..
You could try clearing the cache on your home computer first if you haven't done so already but, clearing the modem cache will likely solve the problem.

Actually, that's something that quite simply didn't occur to me...
I'll give that a go. Cheers!

More browser related long shots:
Browser Plugins or Extension? Any odd ones that can be removed?
Once your cache was cleared and browser restarted, did you type in IIS URL from the address bar and have no auto fill etc, sign of a good cache clean.
Links from shortcuts/menu items not quite correct?
Hacked! ? Hopefully not.
HTTPS issues, Site Certificate issues? Popups may be disabled to show these?
Update to latest version of browser, (that one rarely works for me lol).
There is also something I read recently too about a reset option in the browser :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...s-fix-problems
Cheers.

Mate, those are all good options, and I'll certainly be giving a few of those a try.
It only seems to affect the IIS site though, not any other website I access, so I'm wondering if there's been a https issue or certificate issue as you mention. If I'd been hacked, I think it would be starting to show up elsewhere by now. My firewall / antivirus / antimalware software is kept current, and I'm running the latest version of the browser. Resetting the browser is a new thought thought, I'll make the attempt with that.
I'll keep at it. Many thanks for the feedback and suggestions, it's greatly appreciated.

Have a read of this old thread Warren and give the router another try.
Server timing out??
Leon in post#3 was able to clear his problem by powering down the router for a couple of minutes.
This will allow the router to totally clear its cache once the small internal backup power (capacitors) gets depleted.
As we all know Leon is our resident IIS tech guru.

Folks;
Many thanks. The issue appears to be solved. The old "turn it off, wait, then turn it back on again" has got things moving again.
My sincere appreciation to all who made suggestions. I am not worthy...

there is a thing called " the 360 degree polarity test"
turn off the device - pull the plug out - turn it 360 degrees - plug it back in -
surprising how often it works !

I sometimes, occasionally (like today) have a similar problem when my vpn is up. Dropping it fixes the problem.
