Thoughts around the new 62ED and 82ED Evolux?

SkyWatcher's new scopes look nice for portable widefield imaging - anyone had a go with one?

I haven't, sadly.

Although I did have a word with Paul at Sidereal about them. It seems there may have been manufacturing problems with the early batches. I can't recall the exact details, but something to do with chromatic aberration?? So Paul had pulled all hist stock and was working with Sky Watcher to get them checked out.

Having said that, the 62 is a nice looking scope, and the rack-and-pinion focuser is a bit step up from the friction one (Crawford?) that the EvoStar series have.

Cheers,
V

I would like to see how corrected they are. The 80ED is a nice doublet, but it's still a doublet and not a Tak or anything. I know you're not paying Tak money though
Could be a nice wide-angle set of scopes.

They supposedly have good optics however for astrophotography the field flattener/reducer is extremely expensive, almost as much as the scope
