Dew heater options

Hi,
I have purchased an SVbony 12V dew heater strip that includes a low/medium/high switch. I tried it out for the first time last night and it worked like a champion. Now I’m thinking of a second strip for my guidescope.
What is the practical advantage of the much more expensive kendricks controllers vs the simple 3 step controller?
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,

The system you’re using will work. The difference between hi/med/low and the Kendrick basic systems is minimal apart from slightly more finite control. The more complex systems have a feed back loop. Temperature of the strap, humidity and ambient temperature are all equated in real time to produce the least output possible. This conserves power consumption but more importantly reduces the chance of a warm boundary layer on the optical surfaces which affects image quality.

Hope that explains things

Ryan

I have exactly the same strip but I had to stop imaging yesterday as it wasn't working properly.
It started well when connected to the PPBA, but then stopped.
Only when I disconnected the cable after the switch, it worked. When connected again it stopped.
I connected it directly to the laptop and it worked.
For a few minutes only then it stopped again.
