ASI 1600 wide angle lens

A question to users of the ASI 1600.
The camera comes with a CCTV 2.1mm, 3MP lens and adaptor.
I can't seem to get it to focus.....
Has anyone had success? If so, how?
Thanks,

Hmmmm,
Re-checking the ZWO site, it appears that the camera lens was NOT issued with the ASI 1600, just some of the smaller camera (ASI 178, ASI 120, ASI 290 etc)

yeah I've never seen/heard (in my very limited experience and exposure) of the 1600 coming with a lens!
I do hear often that parts are either missing, or duplicated in shipped boxes. You might get two identical spacers for instance, instead of two different ones.
Seems the QA needs a bit of work.

The cameras "with" lenses all appear to have a 12.5mm back focus.
Chris,
Full sky camera - you could image the clouds which are always there

Hi Ken,

As you say, the smaller cameras have a 12.5mm flange focal distance, but the supplied m42 male to CSmount female adapter is ~7mm thick, which would make the rear element of the lens at focus (I believe) about 12.5-7 = 5.5mm from the focal plane. Without modifying the ASI1600, by removing the front sensor cover inner aperture (black) plate and investigating or removing the entire housing front cover it isn't possible to get the rear element of the baby wide angle close enough (5.5mm) from the senor focal plane to achieve focus. If you chose to modify it you'd need a custom stepped adapter for the lens or custom front plate, but it could be done.

Roughly scaled image of the ASI1600 v 290 attached for reference.
