This is a classic orange tube Celestron 8-inch Schmidt Cassegrain (focal length 2000mm at f/10) around 1980 vintage (hard to pin down).
The optical tube and fork is in pretty good condition. The tripod has a small amount of wear but is otherwise in good condition.
Included are an equatorial wedge, two eyepieces (25mm and 9mm) and a 12.5mm illuminated reticle eyepiece, star diagonal and 4 colour filters. Finderscope (orange to match) is 30mm.
The optical tube and fork comes in a carry case. The fork mount has a clock drive for tracking which seems to work and runs on 240V AC power.
Also comes with a 12V to 240V inverter. Original instruction booklet included.
Due to the lack of computer control, this mount would be ok for visual observing but would probably not be very suitable for astrophotography.
Potential buyers are advised to consider de-forking the tube and using it on a modern mount. Note that this telescope is not Fastar/Hyperstar compatible.
Asking $350 with all proceeds going to our astronomy club.
