9th Jan 2022 Mg b2 and b1

After four days of complete cloud and rain (28mm in one day!) finally had the opportunity through broken cloud and increasing wind to try the MiniSHG on the Mg lines.
Using the Astronomik L1 UV-IR filter, Baader 0.9ND, #56 Green and the 1mm exit slit (approx 70A)

I collected a SER video in both the b2 and b1 lines - just to see the difference (if any)
Certainly not the best images I've obtained, but under the circumstances better than nothing.
I think there is marginally more detail, faculae, granulation and penumbra showing in the b2.
What do you think?
Oh, no prominences visible...... ;(

The weather should improve next week so I'll try to image in Mg again.

Interesting results Ken - slightly more in the lighter green but not much in it. Try again in better conditions. Regards, John W.

Thanks for the feedback.
I’m not sure what to expect from Mg. I can’t find too many comparison images.
There’s some (not many) based on the Daystar Mg Quark. I need to check what the bandwidth is supposed to be.

The Daystar Quark is quoted to be 0.4A bandwidth.

Interesting results in this wave length Ken. I can empathise with you on the quality of the seeing which at best here today was very ordinary. If progress in Ca II K is anything to go by I look forward to seeing future imaging in this wavelength.

It's good to see your SHG is getting some interesting results Ken. The seeing is just as bad up here in Brisbane.
