Lovely shot Anthony, I too was out there looking up and photographing the wonderful spectacle under perfectly timed clear skies for a change! Murphy must have been sick last night.

Wow, it looks really wonderful.
As I said in the other thread, the eclipse here was very dark... Still nice though, and better than spoiled by clouds.

Great shot - I'm happy with how mine came out but lots of faffing around with my DSLR first (too small at 300mm and too soft (kit lens)). Afocal on the phone through the Dob worked though although it was hit and miss with the lineup with my eyepiece.

Wow, great effort all of you. I couldn't use my balcony-observatory as it face west so I had to settle for old Canon with even older zoom lens at 300mm and then camera gave up on me just as we were getting to full eclipse not to mention cyclon which was blowing up here. Well - there is always a next year

Hardly Pkay- nice capture for effort.

Yes a good clear patch of sky just long enough and the clouds came in just as the curtain fell after the awesome show. I particularly liked the constellation of Scorpio embracing the moon- would have a made for a great wide field- I tried with a 50mm lens but only could squeeze half the view in.
Well as you know Mick I haven’t had much of a go lately but hopefully I can get the incentive back to get out again under the stars. Just been so busy with life in general- a good thing.

Thanks for your comment- and yes, we were privileged to have the opportunity to view this wonder.

Thanks Tilleys. Afocal can prove to be very a successful method of capturing the solar system. I’ve tried and although it poses as a tricky and somewhat frustrating technique it still produces fine results.
Well done on giving it a crack.

Baobab- there’s always a story like this that presents in this hobby- you’re right - there’s always another time- the universe ain’t going anywhere while we are around...
