Southern Pinwheel Galaxy M83

A clear night with little or no wind so I thought I'd have a crack at this one.

I put my old Meade Star Navigator 102 on the star adventurer 2i with canon 700d which makes a payload of about 3.4kg.

Just finding and framing up this target was difficult. I put in a 20mm ep initially to find and center the target, then replaced the ep with my canon.

Shot 50 * 2 minute exposures but ended up having to throw away 40 of those. I think the mount dithering and not enough time between exposures to allow the mount to settle caused that.

So anyway, only stacked 9 in dss and then some stretching in gimp to get this.

Not a total waste of a night, good learning experience.

cheers

Mark

Well done. You were lucky to get anything with 3.4 kg on a SA and a small target. Looks pretty good. I am lucky to see it in a single short sub at f5 1000mm.
