Advanced Series GT Celestron - failed power

Hi - I have an old school Celestron C8-S with Advanced Series GT mount. It hasn't been used for a few years, and now will not power up at all.

The LED does not light up, and I can't (or don't have the expertise to resolve, even though I did open up the unit to inspect the electronics and made sure that there was no corrosion at the very least.

I've researched and found that this is not an uncommon issue, and wondered if there was anyone who has had experience resolving the issue or repairing the board? It seems that this particular board is long discontinued (NXW414).

I have found these other posts as resources:

The simple fixes have so far not proven successful, such as new plug from Jaycar; or spreading the centrepost slightly apart to improve the contact.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Not knowing what you have tested, what kind of power cable are you using? One with a cigarette lighter socket? Most of those have a fuse inside the lighter socket which can blow or fail internally through age.

The fuse was fine. I ended up soldering / shorting the switch so that it was permanently 'on' - works beautifully now. A not uncommon issue.
